Hou-Chun Lin joined the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Göttingen as a Chinese Instructor in October 2026. He is currently an M.A. candidate in the Department of Chinese as a Second Language at National Taiwan Normal University.
Prior to joining the University of Göttingen, he gained teaching experience across a range of international and intensive language programs. He served as a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and was later recognized with the Mandarin Educator Award by Fulbright Taiwan. He also served as a Drill Instructor at the Harvard Taipei Academy, where he gained extensive experience in intensive language instruction.
His teaching and research interests include Chinese pedagogical grammar, pragmatics, and Chinese for specific purposes. Drawing on his experience as a multilingual language learner and educator, he emphasizes contextualized learning and authentic communication in the classroom. His teaching aims to help multilingual learners develop practical communicative competence while connecting Chinese language learning with their individual academic and professional interests.
