After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in history at Minzu University of China in Beijing and my Master’s degree in Modern Sinology at the University of Göttingen, I continued my study as a doctoral candidate of Prof. Dr. Axel Schneider since 2024. Meanwhile, I have worked as the student assistant at the Department of East Asian Studies since the spring of 2022.

I am interested in connections and interchanges of historical writing between China and Europe, especially Germany. Comparing Yao Congwu and Zhang Guiyong’s translations of German historian Ernst Bernheim’s historical methods, my master thesis discussed how Rankean tradition was accepted and depicted in modern China and the role of historians as “human beings” in historiography. Also encouraged by my bachelor’s degree thesis relating to the Investiture Controversy, I continue exploring Chinese historians’ views on the Western world in modern China.
